Get with creationFor thousands of years people have been able to come close to God by spending time at special places – often in the countryside. These places have been visited for refreshment, to seek guidance or to examine where life is leading.
You can try this, too. You don’t need any special qualifications or to have read the Bible. All you need is be open to the possibility that God might communicate with you through the world he has made.
Spend some time thinking about your life’s journey. Where are you right now? Maybe you know where you’re going, but you’re a bit tired – or even completely lost – and can’t see the wood for the trees. Try and think of an appropriate place to visit that resonates with your situation. A place you can imagine has a spiritual vibe. For example:
If you’re in need of refreshment – try visiting a spring or a mountain stream. Spend some time there and ask for the help you need.
Perhaps you want to try to get closer to God to ask a question – climb a hill or mountain. Carry a stone up with you and place it on the pile (there’s always a pile) to represent your question. Stay at the top for a while and listen for an answer.
If you’re in need of peace and clarity to make a decision – what better place to go than an island, well away from the normal routine?
But you don’t need to go far. A park can bring peace and remind you that Jesus can help. A bridge can remind you that Jesus can enable you to cross gaps. A shower of rain can remind you that you should have remembered your umbrella.

Jesus was someone who stretched the faith of people around him. He constantly dared people to see things differently, to act differently and to take steps of faith towards God.
