Jesus in books

{title}

Jesus has probably inspired more books and biographies than anyone else in human history. But which of them are worth reading if you’re exploring the life of Jesus for the first time – or even for the second or third times?

The Passion

{title}

These pages explore this stunning retelling of the passion of Jesus in words, images and video. Originally shown over Easter 2008, this BBC drama tells the story of the final week in the life of Jesus.

The Passion resource pack, available exclusively from Bible Society, contains all four episodes of the highly-acclaimed BBC series in a two-DVD set. The pack also includes cast interviews and a host of easy-to-use resources on CD-ROM.

Evan Almighty/Noah’s story

{title}

Hollywood gives a modern day congressman the full OT treatment as he’s stalked by sheep and a flood of biblical proportions. Evan Almighty, a 21st century comic treatment of the Old Testament story of Noah, tells the tale of newly-elected congressman Evan Baxter (Steve Carrell) who is visited by God (Morgan Freeman) and told to build an Ark in northern Virginia – to save people from an impending flood. Explore the film and the themes surrounding it.

CS Lewis

{title}

Our famous follower in these pages is CS Lewis, known as ‘the apostle to the sceptics’ in 20th century Britain, but his books, including Narnia, are read around the world. He is the author of scholarly books, science fiction, popular theology and his children’s classics, the Chronicles of Narnia. All of them shot through with his imaginative and powerful retelling of the Christian story.

These pages were written by Stephen Tomkins.
